I am a young widow, a mother, a stepmother, daughter, sister, cousin, niece, aunt, grandmother.

I like to say about myself that “what you see is what you get”. This means I do not play games, I am very upfront and candid about myself. I tend to get hurt easily – I wear my heart out on my sleeve. But, I have always remained upbeat and optimistic. I believe people are good – until or unless proven otherwise. I am loyal, supportive, generous, friendly. I am intelligent and fairly well-read. I like order in my life but can be spontaneous.

I was married to a wonderful man and was blessed to have 9 ½ good years with him. They were truly good years. Our marriage was a good one, a great one. It is going to be hard to find that again, but I have both faith and hope that I will.

I consider myself to be modern orthodox. I dress modestly, meaning skirts, sleeves that cover my elbows. When married I kept my hair covered – either with sheitels, mitpachot, or hats. I watch TV, go to movies, read books, surf the internet. I keep kosher all the time and go to shul every Shabbat, and all Chagim.

I enjoy cooking and entertaining. Hachnasat Orchim is one of my favorite mitzvot. I am active in my shul. My late husband and I were founding members of our shul and we were the first honorees at the annual dinner two years ago.

I seek a man who is a religious Jew, no particular label need apply. He should simply be a mensch, of equal or higher intelligence, socially adept, interested in being an active member of his community, and open to new ideas. That openness should allow us to learn from one another and to accept one anothers’ foibles. Above all else, he should be normal.

I am 5’3” tall, and weigh 130 lbs. I am slim, attractive. I consider myself a brunette but at age 49 I am a brunette only with the help of a bottle! Is “bottle brunette” a hair color? My eyes are dark brown. I am fair skinned. I look younger than my age, or so I have been told – although I seriously question – “what does age 49 look like?”.

I am currently employed as the donor database manager for the Birthright Israel Foundation. It is actually a fairly new job. I worked for American Friends of Shalva previously and for Bnei Akiva of the US and Canada previous to that. As you can see I like working for Jewish non profits. I hope to make aliyah in the near future – perhaps as soon as 4 years from now. My plan to make aliyah is only definite in that I will do so one day – but the details of that have not been set. I have two married daughters in Israel and two grandchildren there, plus my sister and her family live there. I also expect my other three (step)daughters to make the move to Israel as some point in the future as well.

At the moment I really do not have any real hobbies. I am simply too busy with work, my shul, the girls when the come around, and other things to have time for a hobby. I do enjoy hiking, Israeli dancing, the occasional workout, taking walks (esp on Shabbat), and reading and watching TV. I think, if I had unfettered time, I would probably also do some form of crafts – refinishing furniture, painting, needlework, pottery, etc. But unfettered time is unknown to me right now. Travel, around the world, could also be an interesting pursuit. Again, unfettered time….sigh.
